Bleh! Spent half the weekend coding and not seeming to get anywhere -.-; Still haven't written anything, fiction-wise.

But on to fannish stuff, which is a lot more fun. Half the people on my flist seem to be obsessing over Stargate Atlantis these days, and the other half BSG. Unfortunately, I'm waaaaaaaaay behind with both of them, so I can't click on any of the cut tags, alas!

A while back I watched about half of the first season of Atlantis. It was fun, but didn't grab me like SG1 did. McKay was the only character that really stood out, and Teyla was just flat-out godawful. Sheppard is very cute and fuzzy, but I'm not 100% convinced that he can pull off the lead in an ongoing show. However! That's all based on the first half of first season, and every show needs time to shake down and get everything flowing, so I'm willing to stick with it for a while longer. It must be doing something right, if so many of my flist are still watching *grins*

Then there's BSG. I absolutely loved first season. I was quite distraught after watching the finale - I had the urge to fly to the US and throttle the producers until they gave me the next ep. Unfortunately, the fervour had died down somewhat by the time season two actually started appearing on the net for download, and I was distracted by new prettyshinies, as usual ^_-

So I never quite got around to watching any of the eps that Hrim downloaded and transfered to my hard drive. But Hrim's just finished downloading season two, including the finale, so I'm going to have to grab them and watch them asap.

In truth, one reason I've been putting it off watching the eps I have recently is because I'm not sure how I'm going to cope with Jamie Bamber's accent. When I watched the first season, I'd never seen him in anything else, so the accent sounded perfectly normal. Now I've actually seen (and heard) him using his actual accent (and what a beautiful accent it is <3) I'm not sure how dodgy the American one is going to sound coming from his mouth ^_^;

But hey, for Jamie Bamber, I'll even put up with an American accent ^_-

But - no BSG until I've finished my code, damnit!

So, my latest fandoms (and I have hrimhari to thank for both of them) are Firefly and Hornblower. I know that I'm somewhat late, by several years, into both of them, but I've certainly been making up for lost time since I saw them *grins*

I'm still mindboggled that they cancelled Firefly. It's quite incomprehensible. I could rant and rave, but I know that it's all been said before, and by people a lot more eloquent than myself. I'd say it didn't do any good, either, but for the fact that we did actually get a movie out of it, which is more than I would have expected. I watched Serenity on my computer with a lot of interuptions and still really liked it - I think it would have been even better on the big screen.

I love all the characters, especially Mal and the good doctor. What's really a worry is that I have no particular urge to slash any of them >.> Maybe my brain is broken or something, I dunno ^_- But it was such a cool series... I hate it when you want more of something so badly, and there just isn't any! Grrr. I downloaded the R. Tam sessions, at least, which were kinda funky. Poor Joss, hehe.

And then there's Hornblower. Hrim bought the set of DVDs for both of us for Christmas, after we'd seen the first movie late last year. We finally got around to watching more of them recently (although I've only seen the first six of eight, for reasons that will probably be obvious to anyone who's seen the sixth).

So. Archie and Horatio. OMGOTP <3 <3 <3 I am absolutely nuts about our Midshipman/Acting Lieutenant Kennedy. He's everything I want in a character - cute, sweet, fluffy, and severely traumatised =D So much potential for h/c. Hell, the entire third movie was one long h/c session (never mind this whole plot business ; ) This makes Celt very happy. And Hornblower is gangly, dark and handsome. God, the curls just kill me.

So much fic I want to write with the two of them... I wonder whether I'll eventually get around to any of it? I haven't written anything in soooooo long. I've started using my LJs again to get myself writing something, even if it is gibberish, just to try and get back into the habit.

Just finished watching FF Advent Children... OMG, the pretty *_*

Between not actually having finished the game, fan-done subs, and Square's usual obscureness, I didn't understand 100% of what was going on, but that's ok. Most of it was fighting, anyway, and it was really, really good fighting ^_- And OMG, the pretty *_*

I want the DVD! I wanna see the extras! But it's gonna be months and months before it gets released here *cries*

RP today, Hero Wars! Was good session ^_^ I wished it could have gone on longer, but we were all pretty braindead by the end of it. Got home, and was gonna crash, but Ferren was very noisy in my head and wouldn't let me rest until I let him rant for a bit -.-;

One jab, huzzah! We had stupid hedgehog!nurse today, who I don't like, but she jabbed 5 patients in a row today with no misses, including 3 neuro regulars, so she earnt my grudging respect. We have another newbie nurse, who's just started in the daycentre. I have christened her alpaca!nurse, because she has this huge perm that belongs in the 80's and a kind of vacant, sheep-like expression. She was going nuts with the obs until one of the regular nurses told her to just stop it *grins* She also had a tizzy when I ran my own drip. Ahhh, I love freaking out the newbs ^_-

While I was there, I finally levelled up my Hero Wars char, Ferren - realised I had 9 hero points that I hadn't spent O_O Got a game this Saturday, so hopefully I'll get a chance to use some of my new skills and feats *bounces* See, most people think of clouds as nice, happy, fluffy and above all harmless things. They're so very wrong ^_-

I haven't really written anything in a while. I'm not really sure what I'm doing with my life. I've sort of been drifting along, not really going anywhere in particular.

But a couple of things recently have really got me re-evaluating what I want to be doing. I think it's time I picked a direction and swam in it.

Hospital today! Nothing much interesting happened today. Two of the other regulars were in, but they were playing cribbage the entire time, so I just read. We had stupid hamster!nurse, but she wasn't around much, which was good.

Took 6 tries to get a drip in, though >.< I took some pictures on arrival home to show off all my bandaids - no blood or anything, but might wanna avoid if drips make you queasy. I love this camera ^_^

*sighs* Having a barney with my mother. We're currently in the "pretending you don't exist" phase at the moment. I hate fighting, I hate being ignored, and I feel bad about making her feel bad, so part of me just wants it to end. The other part of me is still angry, and I know that if I don't stick to my guns, nothing will ever change.

But it still sucks. Hate fighting >.<

Had a great day today! I totally slacked off and got no work done whatsoever =D

I took my grandparents to Borders, because they'd never been and my Grandad is even more obsessed with books than me. He spends half his life in the library. We looked at books for a while, and they bought me an atlas, which was what I'd asked for for my birthday. Grandad had to be pried out of the reference section with a crowbar ^_-

We had coffee and biscuits at the cafe in Borders, and sat and talked for a little while. It was really nice and relaxing ^_^

I decided to get myself a PHP/MySQL book while I was there, because the one I have been using from the library is teh CRAP -.- Except we got into a fight at the counter because my grandparents decided that they wanted to buy it for me as well as the atlas, and it was really quite expensive, so I wouldn't let them. Except my grandad actually managed to wrestle the book out of my hands - he's really strong for an 82-year-old O_O So they paid for that, but I'm going to him a money order with his name on it so that he has to cash it at the bank, that way he can't just hand it back to me *grins*

Came home, rested up for a bit, then Hrim and I went on a food run and ended up going to MilSims while we were out and about. I managed to find Thunder Rebels and Storm Tribe in the second-hand bin incredibly cheap, which was awesome! Also bought myself a box of dice while I was there.

Came home, and have been bumming around for the rest of the evening. Nice and relaxing, although I probably should have done some actual work............ nah ^_-

Um, lots. Lots and lots. Several hundred. More than fit on my bookshelves. I really need to go through them and weed out all the crap.

Fiction book - The Bone Doll's Twin by Lynn Flewelling. I also bought an atlas and a book on PHP and MySQL today. Geek I am ^_^;

3) The last book I read?

Last book I finished was Deep Secret, by Diana Wynne Jones. I'm currently reading The Merlin Conspiracy, its sequel, but I got a little... er... distracted.

4) 5 books that mean a lot to me?

The Dark is Rising series, by Susan Cooper. I read these books in grade 6 and just totally fell in love with them. My copy is literally falling apart, it's been read so often. I always wanted to be Will.

Couldn't decide between a bunch of Diana Wynne Jones' books, so I'll just say all of them like tienriu. Favourites are probably The Dark Lord of Derkholm, Year of the Griffin, Deep Secret, Hexwood and Dogsbody.

Lord of the Rings. Yeah, hardly original, but I was captured by them the first time I read them, and they never let go.

My collection of Baby Name books. I use them to name all my characters, and Mum buys them for me whenever she sees one I don't have because she knows I love them, so they're extra special.

My dictionary, because my Grandad gave it to me, and I use it pretty much every day because I can't spell for crap ^_-

Actually it's not until tomorrow, but every has already given me prezzies, so I figured I can celebrate early ^_-

I got manga (Chrono Crusade) from Hrim; new clothes from Mum (jeans, shirt, jacket) plus tickets to see the Lion King stage musical; and Star Wars 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and the first season of Clone Wars on DVD from my brother. I'm also going to see SW3 again in Gold Class on Sunday with family and Hrim, with Hrim shouting me my ticket. AND Hrim took me to lunch yesterday ^_^

So, all in all, I'm feeling very spoiled and lucky this birthday *grins* But everyone spent way too much on me O_O

Ages ago I saw some Harry Potter icons that seemed to be made from a fantastic photomanip (or really, really lifelike artwork) of a younger Sirius and Remus (based on their actors). I made a mental note at the time to try and track the fullsize version down, but stupid me forgot to save the icons to my hard drive so now I can't even remember exactly what they look like.

Anyhow, I'm trying to track the picture down now, and have had no luck so far. Do any of you guys know any artists/sites with really good HP photomanips featuring Sirius/Remus? It's not by The Theban Band, I checked there first. I've been out of the HP fandom so long, I have no clues where to even start looking O_O

Edit: Eventually tracked them down. The icons (which are just freaking awesome) can be found at Itty Bitty, but alas, they are just icons and there are no full-sized manips *sniffles*

To assuage my disappointment, I am now going to write porn. Back later.
